With over 30 years of teaching experience in both the public and independent school systems, Sylvia Duckworth is truly a pillar of innovative and constructivist education. She is most known as a leader of “Sketchnoting,” a visual note-taking strategy for 21st century learners in which the pictures drawn tell a story of the learning journey rather simply words or phrases on a page. Sylvia is a Google Certified Innovator and Trainer, an Apple Distinguished Educator, a Seesaw Ambassador, and travels the globe changing and inspiring teachers to redefine learning and creativity for their students through technology integration. Why Creativity Matters
What are the benefits of creativity in education and on a personal level? How do we encourage creativity amongst our students and foster our own creative endeavours? Using some of her sketchnotes as illustrations, Sylvia will consider these questions as she reflects on the importance of creativity in our professional and personal lives. At then end of her session, she will share some secrets for sketchnoting...so come prepared to do some drawing!
